Ok, I realize this is not a new expression, but somehow it seems like I'm hearing it more lately. You ask somebody a question and those are the first two words you get back: "Hey I heard you're getting married." "Yeah, no. It's true. I can't wait." What is that, exactly? What's it supposed to mean? Some sort of funky subliminal thing? You acknowledge that what the person just said is true, but that you disagree with it? Or that your brain starts to say "Yeah" meaning "What you just said is true" but then instinctively follows it up with a "Wait, let me stop you right there are clarify." Or does it really have any value knowing one way or the other? Do I just have nothing to blog about? I saw this pointed out during "How I Met Your Mother": "You're going to Marshall's for Thanksgiving, huh?" "Yeah, no, it should be a great time." "You realize you just said Yeah no?" "I did? Huh. Interesting. Yeah, no, I'm really looking forward to it." "You just did it again." "Yeah no, shut up." (And don't get me started on "ginormous." What the hell is that? Did the English language not have enough words for "big", we had to invent a new one like we're all budding Lewis Carrolls? You can't imagine how it pains me to hear an otherwise educated person come out with 'ginormous' and not be sarcastic about it.)

You kids these days and your Java, and your compilers...in my day all we had were ones and zeroes! And we liked it!
<p/>
You had ones? You were lucky.

lol, Nice i had the same problem when i went into a bank about 2-3 weeks ago.
"i would like to change some details on my account"
"umm Yeah, No You have to go over there"
It would of been a lot quicker and less effort if she just said no. go over there.
lol
And the "ummm" what is the sinentific reason people do that?
